Ariana Grande-Butera,/,a.ri'a.n@ 'gra?ndeI/ ARIEAH-n@ GRAHN.day;[note 1,born June 26, 1993) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Her fame is based on her vocal range of four octaves and her signature use of the whistle register, which have been recognized as a major hit from critics and the media. Grande has won many awards throughout her career, including two Grammy Awards and one Brit Award. She also won three American Music Awards, three Billboard Music Awards and nine MTV Video Music Awards.
Grande began her musical journey at the age of 15 years old, in the Broadway musical 13 (2008 Broadway). Her character of Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's Victorious (2010-2013) and Sam & Cat (2013) earned her acclaim. After viewing YouTube videos of Grande performing songs, Republic Records signed Grande in 2011. Grande's 1950s-doowop-influenced R&B and pop debut album, [2] Yours Truly (2013) was a hit and landed in the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Grande's vocals and whistle sound on the album were immediately and compared to Mariah Carey.
In her second and third studio albums My Everything (2014), and Dangerous Woman (2016), she explored pop as well as R&B. My Everything experimented with EDM and was a global hit with its hits "Problem", "Break Free" and "Bang Bang" as well as Dangerous Woman became her first of four consecutive albums that reached the top spot in the UK. Her personal struggles have influenced the fourth and fifth albums of her studio, which were infused with trap music. Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019) both of which have been commercial and critical success. Sweetener earned her the Grammy Award as Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U, Next was nominated as an Album of the Year, and broke the record in streaming for the biggest pop album. Grande was the first solo performer to to hold the Top 3 spots on the Hot 100, and also the first female artist to climb to the top of UK Singles Chart. She beat the Hot 100 record for the highest number one debuts when she released Justin Bieber's 2020 collaboration "Stuck with U" with Lady Gaga. The latter was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Grande extended her trap sound with her sixth studio album Positions (2020) in which both the album's title track and the album's first single debuted at #1 in the UK. Grande worked with The Weeknd for the remix of "Save Your Tears" and was her sixth US top single.
