As a prep to pro his dream, his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers chose him as the number one overall pick in the NBA draft in 2003. Following his selection as 2004's NBA Rookie of the Year, he rapidly became a top player within the NBA winning the NBA's MVP award both in 2009 and 2010. James, who failed to win the championship in Cleveland, in the year 2010, was released as a free agent and joined the Miami Heat. This was disclosed as part of The Decision. It is one of the most controversial decisions made by a free agent in sports history.
